February 14th

Each year on February 14th, many people exchange all kinds of gift like candy, cards, gifts or flowers with their special “valentine.” The days of romance we call Valentine’s Day is named for a christian martyr and dates back to the 5th century, but has origins in the Roman holiday Lupercalia. The catholic Church recognized at least three different saints named Valentine’s or Valentinus, all of whom  were martyred. Valentine would become one of the most popular saints in England and France. Approximately 150 million Valentine’s Day cards are exchanged annually, making Valentine’s Day the second most popular card sending holiday after Christmas.

Everyone has their personal opinion about Valentine’s Day. Personally in my opinion I think Valentine’s Day is pointless. Your love one or someone that wants to show their love towards you should give you gifts throughout the year not only once a year. If your girlfriends gets excited about  Valentine’s Day, then you’re absolutely not doing things right, and should work on showing your love toward her more. Or maybe Valentine’s Day isn’t pointless and it’s a day where people feel special once a year because they don’t get gifts the whole year. Everyone should feel love and appreciated at least once a year, let’s keep Valentine’s Day and share love.

Just like there’s other kind of Holidays like mothers day and fathers Day, their kids are probably hell throughout the year but that one day they show their love towards their parents and give them gifts and flowers. Just like those Holidays we have Valentines, and it’s now something we do every year. And Valentine’s is now a popular saint in England and France. It will still go around every year like it has been.
